David Hernandez SP 15-day DL - Ankle - 9/1/10 Hernandez has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left ankle sprain he suffered while trying to cover home plate on a wild pitch. There is currently no timetable on his return.
Jason Berken SP 60-day DL - Shoulder - 9/1/10 Berken has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list with a slight tear in his labrum and fraying in his rotator cuff. He is expected to rest and rehab his shoulder rather than undergo surgery but there is still no timetable on his return.

Kevin Youkilis 1B out for season - Thumb - 9/1/10 Youkilis will miss the remainder of the season after he suffered a muscle tear in his right thumb. He underwent successful surgery to repair the right thumb and is expected to be ready for the start of spring training next year.
Mike Cameron CF out for season - Abdominal - 9/1/10 Cameron will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to repair an abdominal tear. He is fully expected to be ready for spring training next season.
Dustin Pedroia 2B 15-day DL - Foot - 9/2/10 Pedroia has been placed back on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 19th, as he continues to feel the effects of a broken left foot. He is expected to undergo surgery in order to insert a screw in his ailing left foot. He is done for the rest of the season, but we fully expect him to be ready for spring training.
Jacoby Ellsbury CF 15-day DL - Ribs - 9/1/10 Ellsbury has been placed on the 15-day disabled list after he re-fractured the rib in his back but isn't sure if he'll miss the rest of the season.
Jason Varitek C 15-day DL - Foot - 8/31/10 Varitek remains on the 15-day disabled list as he is making his way back from a broken left foot. He is expected to begin his rehab assignment in early September and could be back with the Red Sox within a week.

Felix Doubront SP Ques Fri - Pectoral - 9/3/10 Doubront has been diagnosed with a mild strain of an upper pectoral muscle but Red Sox manager Terry Francona said the injury isn't considered serious. It's not clear when Doubront will be ready to pitch again.
Junichi Tazawa RP out for season - Elbow - 6/5/10 Tazawa will miss the entire 2010 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. He is hoping to be ready for Opening Day 2011.

Gordon Beckham 2B Prob Fri - Wrist - 9/3/10 Beckham did not play in Wednesday's game against the Indians with a bruised right hand he sustained Monday night when he was hit by a pitch. X-rays were negative, but he has a considerable amount of swelling. Manager Ozzie Guillen said he expects Beckham to be back as early as Friday for their series opener in Boston against the Red Sox.

Matt Thornton RP Ques Fri - Forearm - 9/3/10 Thorton is currently on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 18, with inflammation in his left elbow but is expected to return for a critical series against the Red Sox which begins on Friday.
Erick Threets RP out for season - Elbow - 9/1/10 Threets is currently on the 15-day disabled list after he tore the ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow. He is expected to require Tommy John elbow surgery and probably won't resurface until 2012.
Jake Peavy SP out for season - Back - 9/1/10 Peavy has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list after undergoing season-ending surgery to repair a detached lat muscle in his back on July 14. He is aiming to return to full health before the start of spring training next season.
J.J. Putz RP 15-day DL - Knee - 9/1/10 Putz has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 25, with tendinitis in his right knee. An MRI already showed that Putz has no structural damage in the knee, but it continues to bother him. There is currently no timetable on his return.

Matt LaPorta LF Ques Fri - Hip - 9/3/10 LaPorta did not play Thursday against the Mariners with a strained left hip and the training staff doesn't think he's ready to be on the field just yet but it's possible he could play Friday.
Carlos Santana C out for season - Knee - 9/1/10 Santana has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a high grade strain of his LCL and a hyperextension of his left knee. He sustained the injury during a collision at home plate in a game against the Red Sox. Santana's surgery was a success and he should be available for the start of spring training in 2011.
Grady Sizemore CF out for season - Knee - 6/5/10 Sizemore underwent microfracture surgery on his left knee and will miss the rest of the 2010 season. He is expected to need six-to-nine months to recover.

Anthony Reyes SP 60-day DL - Elbow - 9/1/10 Reyes is unlikely to return to the majors this year after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He was shut down from his minor league rehab assignment and will most likely rest up and prepare for the opening of 2011.

Miguel Cabrera 1B Ques Fri - Shoulder - 9/3/10 Cabrera left Thursday's game against the Twins in the sixth inning with biceps tendinitis in his left shoulder and remains questionable Friday against the Royals.
Danny Worth 2B out for season - Heel - 9/1/10 Worth is currently on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 4, with a bruised left heel and re-injured that heel while playing in a rehab game at Triple-A Toledo. He has since been ruled out for the rest of the season and will likely to serve as a utility infielder for the big league club next year.
Magglio Ordonez RF out for season - Ankle - 9/1/10 Ordonez is currently on the 15-day disabled list after suffering a right ankle fracture on a sliding play against the Jays. He will undergo season-ending surgery which will help stabilize the fracture. He is expected to be healthy when spring training begins next season.
Carlos Guillen LF 15-day DL - Knee - 9/1/10 Guillen has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a deep knee contusion he suffered after being taken out at second base by a Brett Gardner slide. He is still feeling sharp pain in his left knee and will likely need at least two more weeks before he resumes baseball activities. Expect him back by mid September.

Jeremy Bonderman SP Prob Fri - Ribs - 9/2/10 Bonderman was scratched from his previously scheduled start Saturday against the Blue Jays with inflammation in the cartilage on the right side of his rib cage. He is expected to make his next scheduled start Friday against the Royals.
Joel Zumaya RP out for season - Arm - 7/24/10 Zumaya has been diagnosed with a non-displaced fracture of the olecranon and has undergone successful surgery. He will need four months of rehab which should allow him to be ready for spring training next season.
Zach Miner RP out for season - Elbow - 6/6/10 Miner underwent Tommy John surgery to repair a partial tear in his elbow and will miss the remainder of the 2010 season. The Tigers are hoping he will be ready for the beginning of the 2011 season.
Bobby Seay RP 60-day DL - Shoulder - 9/1/10 Seay has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list as he continues to rehab from a torn rotator cuff. He hopes to avoid career-threatening surgery and might not be ready by spring of 2011.

Jason Kendall C out for season - Shoulder - 9/2/10 Kendall will undergo shoulder surgery for a torn right rotator cuff and will miss the rest of the season as a result. Royals' manager Ned Yost said the recovery time is eight to 10 months, but the club is hopeful he would be back by the season opener next January.
David DeJesus LF out for season - Thumb - 9/1/10 DeJesus has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list after undergoing successful season-ending surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb.

Chris Pettit LF out for season - Shoulder - 7/5/10 Pettit is currently on the 60-day disabled list and will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder.
Maicer Izturis SS 15-day DL - Shoulder - 9/1/10 Izturis has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 22, with inflammation in his right shoulder while trying to make a diving stop on a Mike Lowell single. There is no timetable for his return.

Jason Kubel DH Doub Fri - Wrist - 9/3/10 Kubel did not play Thursday against the Tigers with a sore left wrist after being plunked on Tuesday. He will undergo an X-ray and possibly an MRI and remains doubtful Friday against the Rangers.
Nick Punto 2B 15-day DL - Hamstring - 9/2/10 Punto has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 20, with a strained left hamstring. He will likely be out for a bit longer than originally expected, but he will likely return at some point in September.
Justin Morneau 1B 60-day DL - Concussion - 9/3/10 Morneau has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list with post-concussion symptoms. He suffered the concussion after his head connected with Blue Jays shortstop John MacDonald's knee on a slide into second base. It looks like Morneau won't return this season since he hasn't been able to participate in a full workout with the Twins.

Brian Fuentes RP Doub Fri - Back - 9/3/10 Fuentes was unavailable to pitch Thursday against the Tigers with a tight back and is not expected to play Friday against the Rangers.
Joe Nathan RP out for season - Elbow - 6/5/10 Nathan is currently on the 60-day disabled list as he recovers from season-ending Tommy John surgery. He is hoping to be ready for the beginning of the 2011 season.
Kevin Slowey SP 15-day DL - Tricep - 9/1/10 Slowey has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right triceps and most likely won't be back until mid September.
Jose Mijares RP 15-day DL - Knee - 9/1/10 Mijares has been placed on the 15-day disabled list and will undergo surgery to repair torn meniscus cartilate in his right knee. He is expected back sometime by mid September.
Pat Neshek RP 15-day DL - Hand - 8/3/10 Neshek, who is currently on the 15-day disabled list, feels to be back to 100 percent but it is still uncertain when he will return exactly.
Ron Mahay RP 60-day DL - Shoulder - 9/3/10 Mahay has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list from the 15-day disabled list after deciding to undergo season-ending surgery to repair his torn right rotator cuff. He remains questionable for the start of the 2011 season.
Clay Condrey RP 60-day DL - Elbow - 7/24/10 Condrey was transferred to the 60-day disabled list from the 15-day disabled list with a strained right elbow and will undergo platelet-rich plasma therapy in hopes to avoid surgery. He is expected to be out until late October.

Derek Jeter SS Ques Fri - Rest - 9/3/10 Jeter is not expected to be in the starting lineup Friday against the Blue Jays as he will likely be given the day to rest.
Nick Swisher RF Doub Fri - Knee - 9/3/10 Swisher left Thursday's game against the Athletics after the first inning with stiffness in his left knee. He originally hurt his knee after fouling a ball off his leg and is expected to miss Friday's game against the Blue Jays.
Nick Johnson 1B out for season - Wrist - 8/25/10 Johnson will undergo a second surgery to his right wrist which will cause him to miss the remainder of the season. He is hopeful that this second surgery will allow him to be ready for spring training next season.
Alex Rodriguez 3B 15-day DL - Calf - 9/2/10 Rodriguez is currently on the 15-day disabled list after re-aggravating his strained left calf. He is eligible to return from the DL as soon as Sunday but told reporters he would be willing to sit out until he feels as close to 100 percent as possible.

Andy Pettitte SP 15-day DL - Groin - 9/3/10 Pettitte, who remains on the 15-day disabled list, is about a week ahead of schedule as he continues to recover from a left groin strain. He's a little less than two weeks from returning to the rotation.
Damaso Marte RP 60-day DL - Shoulder - 9/2/10 Marte has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list as he deals with inflammation in his shoulder. There is still no timetable for his return.
Alfredo Aceves RP 60-day DL - Back - 9/3/10 Aceves was transferred to the 60-day disabled list as he deals with a bulging disc in his back. He was recently scratched from a rehab appearance at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after re-aggravating his back. Aceves is headed to New York to have his back examined and might be in danger of missing the rest of the regular season if new tests reveal anything mildly serious.

Ryan Sweeney CF out for season - Knee - 9/1/10 Sweeney has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list with tendinitis in his right patella. He received platelet-rich injections in both of his knees over the All-Star break and announced he would undergo season-ending surgery on his right knee. He also not ruled out surgery for his left knee but is hoping to be 100 percent by spring training.
Conor Jackson LF 15 day-DL - Abdominal - 9/2/10 Jackson has been placed on the 15-day disabled list and is expected to resume activity in a few weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a sports hernia. He hopes to make it back with the A's this season but odds are he'll be shut down until 2011.
Adam Rosales 3B 15-day DL - Ankle - 9/1/10 Rosales has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 10, with a stress fracture in his right ankle and can be counted out until at least mid-September.
Eric Chavez 3B 60-day DL - Neck - 9/1/10 Chavez has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list as he continues to recover from two bulging discs in his neck. He would like to return to the A's in September, but only if it doesn't disrupt the team.

Dallas Braden SP day-to-day - Conditioning - 9/2/10 Braden left Thursday's game against the Yankees in the sixth inning due to cramping from being dehydrated. He should be fine for his next scheduled start.
Ben Sheets SP out for season - Elbow - 9/1/10 Sheets has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list after undergoing Tommy John surgery to reconstruct the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. He also had the flexor and pronator tendons in his elbow repaired. Sheets told reporters that he isn't sure if he will be able to pitch again.
Justin Duchscherer SP out for season - Hip - 9/1/10 Duchscherer underwent season-ending surgery on his left hip and says his rehab is going well. He's not sure when he'll be cleared to begin throwing off the mound but will not pitch again this season. He should be ready for spring training of 2011.
Jon Meloan RP out for season - Elbow - 7/2/10 Meloan has been placed on the 60-day disabled list with a ligament tear in his right elbow. He will soon undergo ligament replacement surgery, which would likely place him on the shelf for a year and perhaps longer.
Josh Outman SP 60-day DL - Elbow - 9/1/10 Outman is currently on the 60-day disabled list with continued discomfort in his surgically repaired elbow. He is coming back from Tommy John surgery and was shut down in June after he experienced some soreness. He still hopes to be a contributor for the A's in September.
Joey Devine RP 60-day DL - Elbow - 9/1/10 Devine, who has been recovering from Tommy John surgery for some time now, is throwing at a distance of 120 feet and still plans to pitch for the A's in September.

Jack Wilson SS out for season - Hand - 9/1/10 Wilson has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 8, with a fractured fifth metacarpal in his right hand he suffered when he slipped in the bathroom. The team originally said he would be sidelined for six weeks, but Wilson expects it to be eight weeks, which officially ends his season.
Milton Bradley LF 15-day DL - Knee - 9/1/10 Bradley is currently on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 26, with tendinitis in his right knee. He underwent surgery to repair a lateral tear in his meniscus and could return before the end of the season, though it is highly unlikely.

Dustin Nippert RP Ques Fri - Head - 9/2/10 Nippert is currently on the 15-day disabled list with a mild head injury he suffered after he was nailed in the head with a comebacker off the bat of Tigers outfielder Austin Jackson. He could be activated as early as Friday against the Twins.
Frank Francisco RP 15-day DL - Back - 9/1/10 Francisco has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained muscle in his back. An MRI revealed only inflammation and no structural damage. He won't be expected back until roughly mid September.
Scott Feldman SP 15-Day DL - Knee - 9/1/10 Feldman has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 22, due to a bone bruise in his right knee. He isn't eligible to be activated from the disabled list until September 7, but is already reporting improvement.
Derek Holland SP 15-day DL - Shoulder - 7/24/10 Holland has been on the 15-day disabled list since May 31 with inflammation in his left rotator cuff and will pitch with the organization's Arizona Rookie League team before being activated by the Rangers.

Dustin McGowan SP 60-day DL - Shoulder - 9/1/10 McGowan has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list with ongoing shoulder and knee issues that cost him all of 2009. He underwent surgery to repair a significant tear in his right rotator cuff on June 7 but it's not known when he will be able to return.

John Grabow RP out for season - Knee - 8/11/10 Grabow suffered a torn MCL while working his way back from a left knee sprain and will miss the remainder of the season.
Angel Guzman RP out for season - Shoulder - 8/9/10 Guzman has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list after undergoing successful arthroscopic surgery to repair a badly torn ligament in his right shoulder and will miss the entire 2010 season. He's hoping to be ready by the start of 2011.
Carlos Silva SP 15-day DL - Heart - 8/26/10 Silva is currently on the 15-day disabled list because of an irregular heartbeat. He underwent exploratory surgery which revealed the need for a cardiac ablation procedure. He is ready to go on a rehab assignment and probably won't return to the Cubs' starting rotation until the middle of September.
Esmailin Caridad RP 15-day DL - Forearm - 8/3/10 Caridad, who has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to May 19, is still suffering from a right elbow strain and it is unknown when he may return.

Brett Hayes C Out indefinitely - Shoulder - 9/2/10 Hayes expects to miss 2-4 weeks of action due to a Grade 1 separated shoulder he suffered after Nyjer Morgan of the Nationals violently collided with the catcher at home plate in an unsuccessful attempt to score.
Ronny Paulino C out for season - Suspension - 8/25/10 Paulino has been suspended 50 games for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance. His suspension will carry into the second week of next season.

Alberto Arias RP out for season - Back - 8/6/10 Arias will miss the remainder of the season after surgery on his right shoulder revealed damage to his rotator cuff and labrum. The original intent of the operation was to shave calcium buildup off of the joints in his shoulder but additional work was required. He may be ready to return during spring training next year.
Felipe Paulino SP 60-day DL - Shoulder - 8/19/10 Paulino has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list as he works his way back from a right rotator cuff strain. The prognosis on his hip is promising, and the catcher could avoid surgery, at least initially. The Dodgers have consulted with three different doctors, and the consensus right now is that Martin will avoid surgery for the time being.
